Abstract
Franck—Condon factors have been calculated for the nitric oxide delta and epsilon band systems, based on Morse oscillator wavefunctions. Electronic oscillator strengths have been derived from data available in the literature for the beta, gamma, delta, and epsilon band systems; these are 0.00270, 0.00240, 0.0170, and 0.0137, respectively, exclusive of variations due to perturbations. The results have been discussed in terms of these perturbations, which cause enhancement of some beta bands and diminishment of some delta and epsilon bands. The results are in resonably good agreement with those obtained by other investigators for the beta and gamma bands. Aside from the effect of perturbations, no significant dependence of the electronic transition moments on internuclear separation is apparent. Keywords
