Abstract
Low-m-number tearing modes are both theoretically predicted and experimentally observed in current tokamak experiments. Experiments operating at higher temperatures and higher values of β are predicted to be more stable. The theory developed by Glasser, Greene and Johnson is applied here to a three-parameter model of the tokamak to determine the extent of this improvement in stability. Keywords
