Abstract
The α-particle boson model is applied to investigate four-α-particle cluster structure of 16O above the four-α-particle breakup threshold. Paying attention to validity of the boson model at high excitation energy, we examine energetic properties of various arrangements of the four α-particles. It is possible to predict two 0+ states with different character: One is analogous to the 02+ state of 12C at 7.65 MeV and has prolonged four-α-particle cluster structure which is not restricted to any specified configuration. The other dominantly consists of a square configuration.
