Abstract
Step discontinuities in disk transmission lines may be approximately allowed for using the known results for steps in parallel plane transmission lines. A correction factor is calculated for the case of a disk line and shown to depend on whether the step up is away from or towards the center. The factor is given by Lo Kl(n7r3) sin2 n7ra 1 Ko(nir#) a2n3 x0 sin2 nira 1 a2n3 for an outward step up, where K0 and K1 are modified Bessel functions of the second kind. For an inward step up, K0and K1 are replaced by I) and 11, the modified Bessel functions of the first kind. Graphical charts are given which allow the factors to be directly determined from the shape parameters α and β.Keywords
