Abstract
Pollen analysis and charcoal identifications of a tephra sequence in the Ton gariro area, North Island, New Zealand, show that bctween 20000 and 14000 years B.P. there was a change from Nothofagus forest, grassland, and shrubland to podocarp-broadleaf forest. This implics a change to a warmer climate during that period. Keywords
