Abstract
Calculations are presented of the spectra of electrons produced in water irradiated by monoenergetic photons having energies up to 2 MeV and by photons from 60Co. This paper extends previous work by including photoelectrons, Auger electrons and successive Compton scattering of the photons. Pair production, which can be neglected at these energies in water, is not included. Data such as those presented here have been used recently in studies of the slowing down spectra of electrons produced by photons irradiating liquid water. Computations were performed with the Monte Carlo computer code, PHOEL-2, which is available from the Radiation Shielding Information Center, Oak Ridge National Laboratory. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
