Abstract
An olfactometer is described which is very suitable for threshold measurements of the organ of smell. The rate of flow of the odorous air, duration of stimulus and number of odorous molecules are controlled independently. The dilution can be varied over a range of 1 to 10-12 times the original concentration of the odorant. This implies that the threshold of each odorant can be determined. The blast injection method can be used as well as normal inhalation. Keywords
