Abstract
All manufacturing processes can be described by a morphological process model, which enables both the design and the manufacturing engineer to obtain a quick survey of the relevant production methods, their possibilities, and their limitations. Furthermore, such a model is a very powerful tool in process development. In this paper a morphological model of manufacturing processes is built up from three flow systems: material flow, information flow, and energy flow. The approach is valid in all engineering fields and should become a routine working method for all engineers.
