Team engineering analysis and modeling: toward a normative model of team interaction

Abstract

The TEAM (Team Engineering Analysis and Modeling) research project advocates a competence-centered approach to modeling the interaction among members of engineering design teams. The authors describe the first phase of research: empirical analysis of team member interactions. Comments and responses from an electronic design review system were analyzed to describe message design and participants' interaction. This modeling effort will form the basis for knowledge-based tools to support consensus management in engineering design teams.
