Abstract
Tests for treponemal antigens are undoubtedly an advance in syphilitic serology. The immobilization test, despite certain failings, remains the most valuable of these reactions, it not having been equalled so far by agglutination tests nor by immuno-adherence tests. Definite judgement concerning reactions of deviation of complement by treponemal antigens must still be reserved. Similarly, the immuno-fluorescence test, which seems rich in promise, still needs to be studied much more thoroughly before it can be thought of as being a substitute for Nelson''s test.
