Abstract
Apanteles fumiferanae and Glypta fumiferanae are the 2 principal parasites of overwintering larvae of the spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana. Thirty-one hundred overwintering spruce budworm larvae obtained at different heights on balsam fir in northern Maine were dissected. Results from 11 trees having branches sampled in 3 crown classes were analyzed. The mean percentages of parasitization by Apanteles were 15, 20 and 27 for the low, middle and high levels, respectively.
