Fibrin Sealant as a Delivery Vehicle for Sustained and Controlled Release of Chemotherapy Agents

Abstract
The treatment of neoplastic disease represents a major challenge to modem medicine. When a well-defined tumor is evident and accessible, surgical resection is the usual first step. In recent years, subsequent, or “adjuvant,” therapy has gained increasing acceptance as the second step in cancer treatment. Adjuvant therapy may involve radiation, antiproliferative drugs, hormone analog treatment, or immunotherapy. Of these, radiation and antiproliferative compounds currently represent the most common therapy.
