Abstract
WITHIN the last several years there has been a medical awareness of a major pediatric problem involving childhood neglect and physical abuse. The infliction of willful injuries to children is not a new entity but has existed since the beginning of time. Only recently has there been an apparent increased incidence of "battered" children reported in the medical literature and noted by child-protective agencies.
