The continuing deficit of women in India and the impact of amniocentesis

Abstract
I am going to focus on the use of amniocentesis in the context of an already existing deficit of women in the population of India. This chapter does not concern itself with the health risks inherent in the application of amniocentesis. It is a description of how and why amniocentesis is beginning to be used in India systematically to reduce the number of female children being born.
