Abstract
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of helical CT of the chest for predicting blunt traumatic aortic ruptures when periaortic hematoma is used as a positive criterion. CONCLUSION: We recommend the use of periaortic hematoma as a criterion for predicting traumatic aortic ruptures on CT because this criterion is sensitive and can reduce the false-positive rate of CT interpretations. Keywords
