Abstract
The number of pages devoted to various lines of botanical study in 4 American botanical journals and in the publications of the U. S. Dept. of Agric. increased from 259 in 1881 to 3,841 in 1930. The relative amount of space devoted to morphology, physiology, and pathology greatly increased in recent yrs. Interest during certain periods in special studies, such as the development of the embryo sac (1894-1916), and the recent studies of pH apparently had a large influence in this change, and while sometimes resulting in amusing errors have had in general a "tonic" effect on botanical studies. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
