Abstract
A large helium liquefier is described which produces 7.5 liters of liquid helium per hour through a Joule‐Thomson expansion valve when operated from a compressor giving 21 cu ft./min. flow at a pressure head of 320 lb./sq. in. The liquid helium can readily be transferred into exterior cryostats. The consumption of liquid hydrogen, used to pre‐cool the helium gas, during the process of liquefaction is 1.3 liters of hydrogen per liter helium. The liquefier fits into a container 6′ long by 8″ in diameter. Keywords
