Abstract
Magnetic moments and equilibrium lattice constants for the bcc Fe-Co alloy are obtained by means of band-structure calculations using the augmented-spherical-wave method and the local-spin-density scheme. The calculated magnetic moment in Fe-Co does not vary linearly with composition, in agreement with experiment. A rigid-band picture is found to be inadequate; i.e., chemical effects are very important. Keywords
