Abstract
We present measurements of thermally averaged level-to-level rate constants for vibrationally and rotationally inelastic collisions of I2(B 3Π) with Xe and He:I*2(vx=13, ji=41 or 91) → I*2(vf=12, jf). Comparison of these results with our previous work on the same systems for rotationally inelastic collisions with no vibrational inelasticity reveals a similarity in the collision dynamics for the vibrationally inelastic and vibrationally elastic processes.
