Abstract
Strains (227) of viridans streptococci were simultaneously identified on the Minitek Miniaturized System (BBL) and by a conventional method according to Colman and Williams. Minitek discs were each overlaid with a drop of serile liquid paraffin and the trays were incubated in GasPak jars (BBL) with CO2 generator envelopes. Identification was possible 3-4 days earlier than with the conventional method. Results agreed with the conventional method and with the identification schemes of Cowan and Steel and of Facklam. Minor differences were found in number of positive and negative results in those reactions that are variable in all 3 schemes. This publication has 33 references indexed in Scilit:
