Abstract
Louse infestations of Hae-matopinus eurysternus and Linognathus vituli were eradicated by 1 dip in a 0.3% suspension of benzene hexachloride (equivalent to approx. 0.036% [gamma] isomer). Bovicola bovis infestations were eliminated by a single dip in 0.15% benzene hexachloride. The toxicity of benzene hexachloride to cattle lice was manifested by complete kill of all motile stages, by a rather high ovicidal action, and by failure of any emerging nymphs to survive on treated animals. Evidence was presented that a prepd. suspension of benzene hexachloride retained its effectiveness in a field vat for at least 38 days. Keywords
