Thirty male schizophrenics and 30 non-psychiatric or normal male patients with a mean age of 35.5 years and with a similar range for both groups, all of average intelligence, were studied on stimulus material consisting of 4 sets of 5 pictures each telling a story. The schizophrenics were receiving tranquilizers, while those in the previous study were not. In this study the mean segmental TTRs (the type token ratios) and their variances were obtained from speech samples of the 2 groups and were analyzed by means of analysis of variance. Neither the means nor variance scores differentiated between the speech of the schizophrenic and normal samples.
