The presence in Tenebrio molitor of an enzyme which is active in hydrolyzing o-nitrophenyl acetate has been established by Lord and Potter (1951), and this enzyme has been shown to be present in the tissues of a number of insects. However, no information is available regarding its properties and normal physiological functions.
