A Myxosporidian, Myxobolus notemigoni sp. n., Parasite of the Golden Shiner

Abstract
A new species of Myxosporidia (Sporozoa) is described. This parasite occurs in the corium below the scales of the golden shiner, Notemigonus crysoleucas (Mit-chill) (Cyprinidae). The name Myxobolus notemlgoni sp. n. is suggested and a description of the organism is presented. The parasite is of commercial importance since it detracts from the appearance and market value of its host, an important bait fish.
