Abstract
The protoanemonin obtained from spp. of buttercups (Ranunculus) is derived from a glycoside, ranunculin, whose isolation and properties are described, and a provisional structure given. The substance seems likely to be present only in Ranunculaceae. The pure glycoside is stable, and a convenient source of protoanemonin. Keywords
