Abstract
The object of the investigation reported in this paper was to ascertain, in so far as possible from available information, the reasons for the differences in operating results obtained from Imhoff tanks, in order that the requirements for satisfactory results might be better understood. The plants at Schenectady, N. Y., Plainfield, N. J., Fitchburg, Mass., and Rochester, N. Y., have been selected for comparison, for the following reasons : Two of . the plants have. functioned in a normal manner and two have developed serious difficulties; the operating data are unusually complete and reliable; and all the plants have had close, intelligent supervision. Keywords
