Die Untersuchungen der Phosphatidkomponenten von Viren der Influenzagruppe

Abstract
The lipid fractions from normal egg material and of that infected with influenza virus as well as purified influenza virus and virus of the classic fowl plague were studied by paper chromatography. The total lipid content of allantoic fluid is doubled after infection, the amount of phosphatide is less than in normal allantoic fluid. This phosphatide fraction reduced by infection is incorporated preferentially in the virus. The phosphatide fraction of the virus contains sphingomyelin and lecithin as well as small amounts of colamincephalin besides considerable amounts of cerebrosides and an unidentified ganglioside-like substance. Serine cephalin and acetalphosphatide could not be detected. There are differences in the lipid composition of influenza virus and the classic fowl plague virus.
