Total Cross Section for the Reactionp+p→π++p+nat 437 Mev

The total cross section for the reaction $p+p\to {\pi }^{+}+p+n$ has been measured for 437-Mev incident protons. The value obtained is 1.06±0.24 mb, which is lower than some earlier measurements have indicated. The present result gives better agreement with the value predicted by the phenomenological theory and the measured cross section for $p+p\to {\pi }^{+}+d$.
