On the Theory of Printed Wire Antennas

Abstract
In this paper, the theory of wire antennas printed on grounded dielectric substrates is presented. Pocklington's integral equation is solved by Moment Methods to obtain the current distribution of printed wire dipoles, including printed dipoles in array configurations. Essential to the analysis is the correct solution of Sommerfeld type integrals for field and source points located on the substrate. The antenna characteristics such as input and mutual impedance, as well as radiation patterns will be discussed. The importance of surface wave modes will also be emphasized.
