Abstract
The hyperfine field and its pressure derivative have been calculated for the metallic ferromagnets Fe, Co, and Ni using a local approximation for exchange and correlation. Good agreement with experiment is obtained. A short discussion is given of the behavior under pressure of the core and valence contributions to the hyperfine field in these materials. Keywords
