Abstract
It is suggested that the conventional model of electron transfer by phonon-assisted small polarons neglects a term due to the temperature-dependent overlap. It is shown how this term can be included, and the implications for its incorporation for the d.c. electronic conduction in some low-conductivity solids are described. Keywords
