The surgical adhesive n-heptyl 2-cyanoacrylate was used successfully to seal corneal perforations in two patients. There was prompt and permanent restoration of the anterior chamber, with minimal inflammatory response to the adhesive. The procedure of application was simple, performed at the slit lamp, and required only topical anesthesia. The adhesive acted as a tamponade allowing the normal healing process to occur beneath it, and eliminated the complications of suturing in diseased tissue. The encouraging results in these two cases may herald an even broader use of adhesives in ocular surgery.
