Dicentric Ph1 Chromosome

Abstract
Five cases in our chronic myelogenous leukemia series were originally categorized as Ph1-positive and later developed another variant of the Ph1 chromosome. With the new Giemsa banding technique, it appeared to be a dicentric Ph I chromosome. This chromosome was first noted 23 months after diagnosis, with the latest appearance at 57 months. Survival in 3 of the 5 patients after the appearance of the dicentric Ph1 chromosome was 6, 16, and 35 months; the other 2 are still alive.
