Abstract
The report summarizes and integrates a large body of knowledge drawn from theoretical formulations, empirically based research, and field experience to describe a data-based approach to organizational development. Termed 'survey- guided development,' this approach entails several facets including (a) measurement based on a validated model of organizational functioning, (b) use of organizational members as change-agents fulfilling a 'transducer' role, (c) thorough preparation of organizational members prior to the utilization of data, (d) survey feedback procedures implemented at the work group level, (e) diagnostically based interventions, and (f) evaluation of progress and corrective measures as integral aspects of the organizational development effort. Keywords
