Sterile-neutrino solutions to the solar puzzle

We find solutions to the solar-neutrino problem in which ${\nu }_e$ has resonant oscillations in the Sun with a sterile neutrino ${\nu }_x$. We show that the ${\nu }_e\to {\nu }_x$ oscillation scenario can be distinguished from standard ${\nu }_e\to {\nu }_{\mu } (or {\nu }_{\tau })$ resonant oscillations by measurements of ${\nu }_e$ capture on ${}_{}{}^{71}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Ga}$, low-energy $\nu -e$ scattering ($E_{\nu }\sim 1$ MeV), and $\nu$ neutral-current interactions on nuclei.
