Abstract
A rigorous treatment of the intensities of vibration‐rotation absorption spectra of diatomic molecules is given, leading to explicit expressions relating the observed intensities of the fundamental and first two overtones to the appropriate coefficients in the expansions of the potential energy and the dipole moment.Keywords
