Abstract
A review discussion of the facts and factors to be considered in the molecular design of conducting polymers is presented. Topics discussed are: molecular properties and solid state properties; towards high conductivity— conjugation length and chain orientation; counter ions and ion exchange; materials design—solubilization, processability and molecular composites. Keywords
