Abstract
In part I, introductory remarks and the description of the axial field plasma betatron are given. In part II, calculations concerning the motion of electrons in this machine are given, and it shows that electrons can be accelerated to 500 keV when the confining magnetic field is 3kG. The energies of electrons determined from measurements of X-ray from target were a little lower. In part III, preionized plasma was measured by double probe. Plasma of Te ≅ 4eV, n ≅ 1012cm-13 was obtained, and it decayed by diffusion according to 1/13 law.-4 mmHg helium. It reached about 1MeV when helium was absent and the pressure was 3 × 10-5 mmHg In part V, direct measurements of energy distribution of x-ray as one method of energy determination of electrons were described. The results from this were compared with those from the absorption method. In part VI, the electron temperature of the plasma was measured spectroscopically, and it was about 40 eV.Keywords
