Effectiveness of Measles Vaccine given simultaneously with DTP

Abstract
Rural Guatemalan children (101) 1 to 6 years of age were given either measles vaccine alone, measles vaccine with DTP, or DTP alone. Measles seroconversion rates and geometric mean HI antibody titres did not differ significantly between children who received measles vaccine alone (86 per cent) and those who received measles vaccine with DTP (85 per cent). Nutritional status also had no effect on seroconversion. These findings indicate that further attenuated live measles virus vaccine may be given with DTP in mass immunization campaigns without reducing the effectiveness of measles immunization.
