Partial rupture of the flexor hallucis longus tendon in classical ballet dancers

Abstract
Ballet dancers (2) are presented with partial rupture of the flexor hallucis tendon causing a great toe clawing deformity and fusiform tendon thickening at the calcaneous bone. Surgical exploration and flexor retinaculum release are suggested to restore normal motional range. Rehabilitation is accomplished by physiotherapy and gradual exercise.
