Abstract
Hedin has questioned the validity of applying the mass law to enzyme action as originally proposed by Michaelis. He finds maximum velocity (in case of invertase) at 0.0104 M sucrose conc. and assumes complete combination between enzyme and substrate at that point. Hedin''s assumption leads, in 2 specific cases where the dry weight and activity of invertase preparations are known, to the absurd values for the molecular weight of the enzyme of less than 2.4 and 0.02 respectively.
