Abstract
Preliminary varietal studies conducted at Holland, Virginia, showed the small, bunch-type peanut to be more resistant to attack from Diabrotica undecimpunctata howardi than the larger runner-type peanut. Different plant spacings and planting dates failed to show any effects upon infestation. Adults were parasitized by a tachinid fly, Chelatoria diabroticae, and by 4 spp. of nematodes, the most important of which was Howardula benigna. 5 spp. of beetles are also recorded as being predators.
