Abstract
The large-scale bending of a helical filament is considered. It is shown that, in many cases likely to be of interest in textile applications, the bending rigidity of the helix calculated from small-deflexion theory provides a good approximation to the large-deflexion case. The cross-section of the deformed helix and the position of the neutral axis are also discussed. Keywords
