Abstract
With the histogenetic method (use of histological and classical genetic criteria), bullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma can be strictly separated from the dry form of congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma with its recessive mode of inheritance, not only due to its dominant trait but also because of its histological features. In the former, a granular degeneration of the epithelium is found while the latter shows an unspecific cutaneous vascular inflammatory reaction. Hyperkeratotic nevi (epithelial nevi) with granular degeneration belong to the nosological entity of bullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma and probably isolated cases of palmoplantarkeratosis with granular degeneration. Keywords
