Abstract
Containment of a gun-injected hydrogen plasma in the dc octopole has been studied. The plasma parameters are , eV. The confinement of 300 Bohm times is observed. The plasma losses across the magnetic field are comparable to the support loss. In high-density regimes the loss process is found to be due to classical diffusion.
