Abstract
In pre-eclampsia, but not essential hypertension of pregnancy, reduced maternal levels of circulating platelets were found to correlate with intrauterine growth retardation. This suggests that disseminated intravascular coagulation and fibrin deposition contribute to the placental damage of pre-eclampsia.Keywords
