Abstract
Dopamine .beta.-hydroxylase (DBH) activity was compared in CSF and serum between Parkinsonian patients and control patients devoid of neurological disorders. CSF was obtained through lumbar puncture from control patients undergoing surgery under lumbar anesthesia, and that of Parkinsonian patients was obtained from lateral ventricles for lowering the cerebral pressure during stereotaxic neurological operation. DBH activity in CSF of Parkinsonian patients was greatly decreased as compared with that of control patients. Serum DBH activity in Parkinsonian patients was also slightly lower than that in control patients. DBH activity in the Parkinsonian brain is low. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
