Abstract
The effect of axial magnetic field on the resonances of surface waves propagating along a cylindrical plasma is examined. When the magnetic field is increased and the exciting frequency maintained constant, the resonance peaks in the symmetric mode are shifted towards the lower discharge current side whereas the peaks in the dipolar mode split into two peaks with increasing separations. A method for determining plasma density by use of surface wave resonances is thus extended to the case of magnetoplasma columns. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
