Abstract
Three cases of multiple myeloma surviving 9 and 11 years (and still living at the time of the report) are described. Features of the disease in these patients were presence of a small percentage of relatively mature myeloma cells in the bone marrow and the absence of severe anemia, extensive bony lesions, marked plasma protein abnormalities and renal involvement. While all 3 cases received prolonged therapy with urethane, it was not possible to attribute the long survival to the use of this drug. This report emphasizes that certain cases of multiple myeloma naturally may run an unusually prolonged and relatively bengin course. Keywords
