Abstract
We are currently interested in the regiospecific introduction of functional substituents on to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The new organoborane technology appeared to offer a straightforward solution to a number of our synthetic problems.1,2 An examination of the literature revealed that only a few of the newer synthetic procedures have been applied to aryl organoboranes.3 Consequently, we decided to investigate the reactions of aryl organoboranes with a variety of reagents utilizing triphenylborane as our model compound. Keywords
